Bannockburn knew that a win would secure a place in the top 4 of the league and promotion at the mid-season split. But Bannockburn wanted more than that as they inch ever closer to the first place spot.

After exchanging some early hits in some dismal weather, some safe hands and hard running lead 'Burn down the pitch until LEE CAMERON found a gap that lead to the first try of the match.

Unhappy about being down by 5, Hillfoots resorted to some ungentlemanly play. Their number 8 spent some time in the sin bin for knocking JOHN DAWSON out of the pitch with a late hit without using his arms. This also took JOHN DAWSON out of the game, until he was required to come back on as Sinky suffered a shoulder injury. JOHN DAWSON's presence on the pitch proved essential as he scored again before half time.

The start of the second half lead to more injury troubles as the always hard working RYAN LYDON found himself on the ground, unable to get up. This forced the game to be moved onto the dryer first team pitch. AJ Lias, not to be outdone, went down with an ankle injury as well.

These setbacks spurred 'Burn on to work even harder. The Forwards continued to hammer the Hillfoots defence. In difficult conditions, the line-out seemed unaffected as GREGOR QUEEN's catching was as good as ever. Other notable performances came from Phillip Chalke who played his first game at prop and showed promise for his future in the position.

JOHN DAWSON scored again after the backs moved the ball well out to the wings. Rambo also broke the Hillfoots line many times as 'Burn had identified a major weakness.

Desperate for a bonus point, JOHN DAWSON nearly scored again off of a perfectly placed cross field kick by CHRIS REED, but the wet conditions proved too much as he knocked the ball forward. This didn't get 'Burn down though. The forwards kept the ball for the majority of the time in the Hillfoots half, and with patience came the bonus point from a third JOHN DAWSON try.

Hillfoots didn't leave the game empty handed. Despite SANDY GRAINGER's best efforts to hold it up, they scored a late consolation try with only seconds remaining.

Bannockburn finished the game 22-5, securing the bonus point and giving them some decent momentum to take into the clash with table-toppers Blairgowrie.
